The Whisperings of God
The Telephone Game—sitting in a circle as one person begins by whispering a phrase very fast into the ear of the next person, and so on, till the end... Because the whisperings are rapid, each passing weakens what was originally said. It's just the reverse in today's Gospel. From verse 40 of John 1, each disciple tells the next one who Jesus is, with increasing clarity, culminating in "You are the Son of God." When we listen carefully to the inward whisperings of God, we receive an ever clearer understanding of who God is and how God comes to dwell in us through love.
